Experts share tips to deal with exam stress

Ranchi: With different board exams underway, mental health experts have urged students to stick to simple steps to beat stress and overcome performance blues. ICSE’s Class X and XII exams have already begun. CBSE’s Class X kicked off from February 15 and XII will begin from February 25. On the other hand, Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) board exam is slated to begin on March 15. Mental health experts and academicians advised students to handle stress gently which would help them focus and pay attention during tests. Pawan Kumar Barnwal, consultant child psychiatrist and behaviour science specialist, at Vedanta Hospital, said, “Excessive stress causes distraction and causes negativity. Even during examinations, students should adhere to their usual schedule, get adequate rest, and take refreshments. Students should not worry about the missing part of the syllabus and instead review what they have already learnt.”Instead of reading and mastering new sections of the curriculum, students should spend a great deal of time reviewing prior material, as recommended by expertise of education.Ram Singh, principal of Delhi Public School, said, “The pupils should concentrate on comprehending and revising the subject."Niraj Kumar Sinha, principal of Firayalal Public School, said, “Students should limit their usage of electronic devices. Home environment plays a significant role in children's academic success, thus parents should foster a positive environment for their children."
