Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court on Wednesday directed Ramgarh deputy commissioner (DC) to ensure the rehabilitation of shop owners on the campus of Chinnamastika Temple in Rajrappa within a month.
The court of Justice Ananda Sen was hearing a petition filed by Anup Kumar Panda and others challenging the DC’s eviction notice to the shopkeepers who had been running their shops on temple premises.
The district administration had issued eviction notices to the shopkeepers following the orders of a division bench of the High Court in a public interest litigation.
The shopkeepers, on the other hand, approached the HC and informed that notice was given to them to move out within three days, which is unfair. No proposal of rehabilitation of the shopkeepers was given by the district administration, for which they appeared before the HC.
