DHANBAD: The Dhanbad rail division on Tuesday removed encroachers from Trackson colony near Rangatand, who had occupied over 78,000 square feet of the area.
The crackdown came as a part of the division's phase-wise anti-encroachment drive to get rid of encroachers. Over 60 illegal houses were demolished, which resulted in an altercation between the residents and cops of
Railway Protection Force.
A similar drive was also carried out two weeks ago at Diamond crossing, and at least 25,000 square feet of land was freed from illegal occupants. More than 20 houses were demolished in the act.
Public relation officer Sanjay Prasad said that the Dhanbad rail division is in the process of removing all encroachments on railway land and the drive will only continue further. When asked what if the encroachers built their houses again in the future, Prasad said all Inspectors of work (IOW) have been given strict instructions to take care of their area and take action against those attempting to rebuild any kind of structure on railway land.
