Elephant kills elderly woman in Hazaribag village
Hazaribag: A 71-year-old woman was killed by an elephant in Hazaribag's Lokura village on Tuesday night. The victim, Rohini Devi, was sleeping in her hut after collecting Mahua seeds when the incident occurred around midnight. According to AK Parmar, Assistant Conservation of Forest, Hazaribag West Division, the elephant, attracted by the Mahua smell, demolished the hut and trampled the woman. The Forest Department has provided an immediate compensation of Rs. 30,000 to the family, with the remaining Rs. 3.70 lakh pending state government approval.
