RANCHI: The enforcement directorate (ED) reportedly summoned DSP Pramod Kumar Singh, asking him to appear before its zonal office in Ranchi on December 12 for questioning in connection with his alleged act of declaring rural development minister Alamgir Alam and Pankaj Mishra, the representative of chief minister Hemant Soren in Barhait constituency, innocent in the Barharwa toll plaza case.

The ED said the police officer gave Alam and Mishra the clean chit within 24 hours of the incident without a formal probe.

DSP sabotaged investigation: ED
In June 2020, one Shambhu Nand Kumar accused Alam and Mishra of preventing him from taking part in a tender process for the collection of toll tax from heavy vehicles entering the Barharwa municipal area.

According to Enforcement Directorate sources, the DSP had put pressure on the investigating officer (IO) Sarfuddin Khan to give the clean chit to Alam and Mishra within 24 hours of registration of the FIR.

Mishra was posted in Barhwarwa at the time and the Enforcement Directorate claimed that the DSP had sabotaged the investigation against the two persons.

The investigating officer, on the other hand, filed a chargesheet against eight people without minister Alam and Mishra.
