ED granted 1-day remand of Alok Ranjan

Ranchi: The special PMLA court on Wednesday remanded accused Alok Ranjan for one day to the ED custody in connection with recovery of ₹2.6 crore from his rented room in Jamshepdur in November 2019. The anti-corruption bureau had raided the premises of engineer Suresh Prasad Verma when the seizures were made.
The court has permitted ED to interrogate former chief engineer (rural works) Virendra Ram for two days inside the jail campus in the same case. Ram’s advocate Vikrant Sinha said the ED sought permission for questioning him while saying that certain facts have come up during the investigation of the case, adding the accused needs to be asked about them. Special public prosecutor Shiv Kumar Kaka pleaded for the remand on behalf of ED. The central agency had arrested Ram on February 22 after country-wide raids on his premises.
Koda appears before special PMLA court: Former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda on Wednesday appeared before the special PMLA court in connection with a case of money laundering. Koda among others are accused of laundering a sum of Rs 3,600 crore. The examination of the prosecution witnesses is underway in the case.
