RANCHI: The special PMLA court on Monday allowed three-day additional remand of minister Alamgir Alam to the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in the case of tender commission scam in rural development department and associated money laundering.

The ED produced Alam before the court at the end of his five-day remand and prayed for an extension, saying it wants to ascertain the role of other persons involved in corruption and money laundering.

The central agency sleuths said they have issued summons for the second time to senior IAS officer Manish Ranjan to appear in its office on Tuesday and that his statements might be cross-checked with Alam, if needed.

ED had earlier summoned Ranjan on May 24, but he did not appear.

The ED summoned several senior officers in the case. The central agency is investigating their roles in the scam also.

Alamgir is involved in acquisition and transfer of proceeds of crime and in possession of evidences and information that need to be investigated. He has been evasive in his replies and is withholding information on proceeds of crime, the ED further claimed.

The ED had arrested Alamgir on May 15 after questioning him in the case. The court allowed remand of Alam to ED for six days and five days earlier.
