DMC staff protest against mayor

Dhanbad: The employees of Dhanbad Municipal Corporation on Wednesday went on a strike after an altercation between mayor Chandra Shekhar Agarwal and a few members of the staff. Junior engineer, Bhagwan Tiwari, said the mayor along with his men allegedly used abusive language against him and threatened him of dire consequences for false reasons.
"The mayor has charged us with leaking tender related information which we have not done at all.Moreover, his men should not have misbehaved with us. The arrogance of the mayor has spoiled the working environment of the corporation," said Tiwari.
To end the strike, the employees have demanded a written apology from the mayor. Cleaning work of the municipal area has also been stalled. The mayor, however, has enied any misbehaviour with his staff and said that he would talk to them and if there is any problem that they are facing, it will be solved on priority.
