Dhanbad Police Leads Jharkhand in Crime Control and Case Disposal for 2025
Dhanbad: Dhanbad Police registered a significant achievement in crime control and case disposal, emerging as the top-performing district in the state in overall police performance. This was revealed during the annual crime review meeting for the year 2025, chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhat Kumar, where a detailed assessment of crime trends, police operations, and law-and-order preparedness was undertaken.
According to official data presented in the meeting, a total of 487 cases were registered in the district during December, while 596 cases were successfully disposed of in the same period, reflecting a strong improvement in efficiency. For the entire year 2025, 6,415 cases were registered, out of which 5,275 cases were disposed of. As a result, the number of pending cases reduced to 2,133.
SSP Prabhat Kumar directed all police officers to further intensify efforts and ensure that the number of pending cases is brought below 1,500 by the end of March 2026.
Reviewing the performance point-wise, the SSP assessed crime control measures, execution of warrants and summonses, disposal of long-pending cases, and handling of major criminal incidents. He emphasised that the positive momentum achieved in crime control must be strengthened further and reiterated that public safety would remain the highest priority of the police administration.
The meeting witnessed the presence of City SP Ritwik Srivastava, trainee IPS Ankit Sinha, along with all DSPs, SDPOs, station house officers, outpost in-charges, and heads of various police branches.
A comprehensive review was conducted on serious crimes, including murder, robbery, crimes against women, POCSO cases, Naxal-related incidents, property offences, cybercrime, unnatural death cases, organised crime, and warrant and attachment proceedings. Officers were instructed to adopt more focused and result-oriented strategies in dealing with such cases. Incidents of bike theft also witnessed a notable decline in recent months.
