Dhanbad: The district police have been equipped with 70 state-of-the-art patrolling bikes to improve policing during the upcoming
Durga Puja festivities. The bikes, officials said, will enable police personnel to maintain effective vigil even in the narrow lanes and congested areas of the city.
The bikes were formally flagged off on Tuesday at the Dhanbad Police Centre. Dhanbad SSP Prabhat Kumar himself led a patrol ride through the city along with rural SP Kapil Chaudhary and traffic SP Ritik Srivastava.
Speaking on the occasion, Kumar said that preventing crime and maintaining peace during Durga Puja is the top priority of the district police. “Seventy bikes have been provided from headquarters and distributed across all police stations to ensure maximum coverage,” he said.
According to officials, the newly introduced bikes will help police personnel respond quickly to any emergency. Patrolling units will be deployed in every police station area, with a focus on markets, squares, and densely populated localities. The SSP stressed that these mobile patrol teams will keep a close watch on suspicious movements and act swiftly to curb any anti-social activity.
The initiative is expected to significantly enhance police visibility and deter miscreants.
