Dhanbad Municipal Commissioner Ashish Gangwar Unveils Citizen-Centric Roadmap for Improved Civic Facilities
Dhanbad: The newly appointed municipal commissioner of Dhanbad Municipal Corporation (DMC), Ashish Gangwar, outlined a comprehensive roadmap focused on creating a citizen-centric urban environment aimed at improving civic facilities and the overall quality of life for residents.
Speaking within three days of assuming charge, Gangwar said his foremost objective was to ensure that all works and welfare schemes of the municipal corporation were implemented on time so that the common people did not face unnecessary hardship. He stressed that timely execution and accountability would be the cornerstone of his administration.
Highlighting the importance of financial sustainability, the commissioner said that revenue generation could not be ignored, as it was key to enhancing civic amenities and initiating development projects. “Strengthening the revenue base of Dhanbad Municipal Corporation is essential if we want to improve facilities and undertake new development works,” he said, adding that all possible steps would be taken to augment municipal revenue.
Gangwar said that at present, 912 shops were being run by the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation. Plans were underway not only to improve facilities in these shops but also to increase their number. For this purpose, new locations would be identified in the near future, which was expected to boost revenue as well as provide better commercial infrastructure in the city.
In a bid to strengthen sanitation and cleanliness, the commissioner announced that a vehicle tracking system would be installed in sanitation vehicles operated by the corporation. This system would enable real-time monitoring of sanitation work, ensuring better supervision, improved efficiency of workers, and enhanced cleanliness across the city.
Speaking about administrative infrastructure, Gangwar said that the new building of the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation was almost ready. However, due to certain unresolved issues, the shifting process was postponed. He assured that these issues would be addressed soon, and the office would be shifted, leading to improved functioning and better services for citizens.
Ashish Gangwar, a 2021-batch IAS officer of the Jharkhand cadre, took charge as the commissioner of Dhanbad Municipal Corporation on Jan 2.
