Dhanbad gears up to welcome President, route to final venue decked up

Dhanbad: The coal town is all set to welcome President Droupadi Murmu as she arrives to participate in the convocation ceremony of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad on Aug 1. The entire route leading from Barwadda Airstrip to the institute campus has been transformed with vibrant and culturally rich artwork, showcasing the heritage and traditions of Jharkhand.According to the district administration, the President will land at Barwadda airstrip and travel to the IIT (ISM) premises by road. To ensure a grand welcome, the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation carried out an urgent anti-encroachment drive, widening the roads and clearing illegal structures along the route.Deputy commissioner Aditya Ranjan said that the roadside walls have been adorned with colourful paintings, each reflecting the diverse culture of Jharkhand along with awareness messages for various govt schemes. "The theme of the artwork varies according to the department involved. The municipal corporation focused on cleanliness and sanitation, while the district welfare department highlighted govt welfare schemes. Police department created awareness on traffic rules, and the education department promoted literacy and child welfare through their paintings," said Ranjan.He added that although the region experienced continuous rainfall, the painting drive continued uninterrupted, with officials and artists working throughout the day to ensure completion ahead of the President's visit.In addition to wall paintings, road dividers and plant fences have also been beautified. Several key points in the city, such as Barwadda, Memko More, Dhaiya, Bartand City Centre, Luby Circular Road, Hatia More, Police Line, Saraidhela, Steel Gate, Gol Building, and Hirak Road, have been specially decorated as part of the preparations.The visual transformation of the city not only highlights the enthusiasm of Dhanbad residents but also reflects a coordinated effort by multiple departments to ensure the President's visit is memorable and the city presents its best face to the nation.
