Deputy mayor raps Ranchi Municipal Corporation over drain cleaning

RANCHI: Ranchi deputy mayor Sanjiv Vijayavargiya on Sunday slammed the municipal corporation for failing to complete drain cleaning exercise. He added that he would ensure that the civic body starts a special drive soon.
Vijayavargiya said: “The drainage cleaning and sewage exercise are usually completed before May 15. However, the officers failed to complete the work this year.”
Residents continue to face problem as garbage are being dumped on both sides of the street which ultimately get washed away in the drains.“The RMC team cleaned the drain on Friday, but it started overflowing a day after since the slush was dumped on both sides of the road,” said Lalpur resident Nivedita Mishra.
