Dandiya, Food & Craft Fest Key Attractions of Ashiana Puja

The Sharodiya Utsav at Ashiana Gardens in Sonari has been organised by the Ashiana Gardens Puja Committee for the past three decades. Committee president A Karthikayan said, “Nearly 600 families residing in the gated society take part in the festival, which begins with Maha Panchami on Sept 27."

Purnendu Banerjee, the committee's secretary, said, "Women members actively participate in the religious activities and cultural functions."

Peona Ghosh, the cultural secretary, added, "For the last two months, participants of various age groups have been working hard to ensure colourful cultural performances every evening during the pujas."

Tuhina Banerjee, a member of the dance team, said, "Dandiya attracts a large number of women participants from ages 10 to 70. Last year, around 150 dancers took part in dandiya."

Indrani Bhattacharya from the society said, "A food and craft fest named 'Anandamela' is organised by the women every year during the pujas, which is a great crowd puller. This time, there will be 11 stalls. At the stalls, pan-India cuisines are available, which are relished by all. Along with that, handmade jewellery and other craft items are sold here." All committee members enjoy the special bhog on all days of the puja.
