Daltonganj Railway Station Averts Stampede During Mauni Amavasya Rush
Daltonganj: A near-stampede-like situation at Daltonganj railway station under the Dhanbad division of the East Central Railway was averted on Sunday night due to sudden influx of people bound for Mauni Amavasya dip. Station superintendent Umesh Kumar on Monday said, “There was a huge rush of passengers, mostly women, children and girls, on platform no. 1 on Sunday. We didn’t anticipate abrupt rush. Majority were bound for Gaya railway station for a holy dip in the Phalgu river.” He said over 1,000 passengers wanted to board the Up Barkakana Patna Junction Palamu Express train which led to the chaotic situation.
