Court dismisses ED’s plea over Singhal’s posting
Ranchi: The special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Ranchi on Friday rejected the Enforcement Directorate's petition seeking to prevent the state govt from assigning any posting to IAS officer Pooja Singhal, who is an accused in the MNREGA scam and money laundering case, reports Sanjay Sahay.
Vikrant Sinha, Singhal's legal counsel, said that the court found ED's petition unmaintainable, noting that all necessary legal conditions were already imposed during her bail grant. The court emphasised that no additional conditions were required and affirmed that posting assignments fall under the state govt's jurisdiction.
On Feb 15, the state govt appointed Singhal as secretary of information technology and e-Governance, along with the position of chief executive officer of Jharkhand Communication Network Limited. This appointment came while the ED's petition was still pending before the court.
