West Singhbhum police to probe Kisan da’s ‘death’
JAMSHEDPUR: The West Singhbhum police has constituted a committee to probe the alleged death of CPI(Maoist) Politburo member Prashant Bose alias Kisan da in Saranda forest on the Jharkhand-Odisha border.
This came after police on Saturday received unsubstantiated reports about the death of the top Maoist functionary, who was suffering from multiple health complications.

Kisan da reportedly died in the Maoist hideout in Porahat region of the forest, following which the intelligence wing immediately sent a team to the forest to verify the reports.
“After receiving reports about Kisan da’s death, the district police swung into action to verify the truth,” SP Anis Gupta, West Singhbhum, said.
“Bose is a senior functionary of the CPI(M) outfit and reports about his death need to be verified thoroughly,” the SP added.
Sources in the district intelligence said Kisanda, who is known by various other names like Nirbhay da and Manish da, had visited the Maoist hideout in the mineral-rich district several times in the past.
