RANCHI: Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) president Sukhdeo Bhagat and Congress legislative party leader Rajendra Prasad Singh on Thursday called upon party Jharkhand-in-charge B K Hariprasad and senior leader C P Joshi to discuss the current political scenario in JMM-Congress alliance government.
The agenda of the meeting also included alliance with the JMM during the Lok Sabha elections scheduled next year. "The senior leaders have agreed to field candidates at 10 parliament constituencies of Jharkhand. Four seats would be given to JMM," said Bhagat.
Sources said nothing new transpired in the meeting and the two leaders (B K Hariprasad and C P Joshi) were apprised of the decisions taken in the Wednesday meeting with party's Congress election coordination committee member Madhusudan Mistry.
Meanwhile, JPCC president approved of the suspension of Congress leader and former president of JPCC's OBC committee president Virendra Kumar Jaiswal for six years.
A press release from the party on Thursday confirmed the suspension.
"It is a disciplinary action taken in accordance with the internal laws of the party. Jaiswal was giving objectionable statements about the party in the media maligning our images," the press release said.
