CM felicitates board exam toppers in state
Ranchi: Chief minister Hemant Soren on Monday awarded 68 Class X and XII board examination toppers of Central Board of Secondary Education ( CBSE), Indian Certificate of Secondary Education ( ICSE ), and Jharkhand Academic Council ( JAC) for the previous academic year. Soren handed over cheques to the students.
The chief minister said, "The cash reward has been granted for the students so that they may continue their education without facing financial obstacles. They have performed exceptionally well in the examinations and we hope they will bring honour to the state.”
Urging students to set ambitious goals and pursue academic excellence, Soren said, "The students have the support of the government. We will assist meritorious students to become successful. The government has also provided students with laptops and mobiles."
The first three rank holders at the state level were felicitated with 3 lakh, 2 lakh and 1 lakh respectively. Beside the cash prizes, all the toppers were given laptops, mobiles and certificates.
The government has allotted more than 1.32 crore to award 130 students including the first, the second and the third state toppers and the winners of state Olympiad. Education secratary K Ravi Kumar said, "Children are the future of the state, and they should be appreciated for their hard work in order to boost their self-esteem as their success will bring honour to the state."
A total of 62 toppers of state Olympiad were also awarded with laptops and mobiles. The exams in English, Mathematics, Science, General Knowledge and General Science were organised by Jharkhand Council of Education Research and Training (JCERT) for government school students of Class VII to IX last year.
On the occasion, two coffee table books were released one has reports related to Khelo Jharkhand and the other to Kala Utsav conducted by the education department.
Khushi Kumari, the third JAC state topper, said, "I am really grateful. The laptop and the cash will be of great help for my future education."
