Cleaning up the city: Ranchi Municipal Corporation to enforce strict regulations on commercial activities; Focus on revenue recovery and unauthorized hoardings

Ranchi: The administrator of Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC), Sushant Gaurav, chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the management of revenue-generating assets, regulate unauthorised commercial activities in residential areas and plan upgrades to bus stand and market infrastructures within the municipal limits.The market section presented its revenue collection and accrual report, after which the corporation directed a comprehensive physical inspection and numbering of all hoardings and monopoles across the city.Inspection records were to include updated information on location, permitted size, validity period, name of the agency or occupant and outstanding dues, an official statement said on Tuesday.The corporation emphasised that appropriate action must be taken against hoardings that were unauthorised or non-compliant, it said.Regarding revenue realisation, the corporation said that it would enforce recovery of outstanding dues from advertising agencies and market allottees and that non-compliant parties would be blacklisted and have their properties re-allotted. Recovery proceedings and reassessment of tenancy terms were to be carried out for markets and complexes, including Nagarbaba Khatlal and Atal Smriti Vendor Market. A focused enforcement drive was announced to identify and regulate unauthorised commercial operations in residential zones.
