Ranchi: The city is gearing up for Ravana Dahan on Dussehra. The effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkarna, and Meghnad meant for Morabadi ground festivities would be 70ft, 65ft, and 60ft, respectively. Chief minister Hemant Soren would set fire to the effigies .
The Punjabi Hindu Biradari started the tradition of Ravana Dahan in the city in 1948. The spokesperson cum media in-charge of the Punjabi Hindu Biradari, Arun Chawla, said, “The highlight of the event promises to a show of the most extravagant fireworks in Jharkhand, meticulously crafted by artisan Shekhar Mukherjee from Kolkata.
The aerial fireworks by the Punjabi Hindu community will be a special attraction.”
Ambulance services by the Guru Nanak Hospital and the the Punjabi Hindu fraternity will be on standby, while drinking water will be provided to the devotees and enthusiats by the Guru Singh Sabha Gurudwara and the Marwari Yuva Manch.
The festivities will also feature a Bhangra dance performance by Paramjit Singh (Sunny) of Jamshedpur and his troupe. “The event will also have many cultural presentations by noted artistes such as classical dancer Rupa De, singers Jyoti Sahu and Chumki Roy, as in the previous years,” Chawla said.
