Among the locations being searched are the premises of the former excise department secretary and secretary to CM Hemant Soren, as well as excise department joint commissioner Gajendra Singh in Ranchi.

The central agency has filed a case against several government officials and private individuals, including Singh, Chaubey, and Anil Tuneja, the former joint secretary of the commercial and industry department in Chhattisgarh. The raids are being conducted as part of this investigation.

Notably, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Chhattisgarh had previously filed a case against the accused for allegedly modifying Jharkhand’s excise policy rules, which reportedly led to significant losses of several crores for the government.

The ED’s FIR was lodged based on the ACB’s complaint in Chhattisgarh.
