Chatra Police Seize Rs 42 Lakhs Worth of Illegal Doda, One Arrested
Chatra: Chatra police seized a huge quantity of illegal doda (opium husk) worth around Rs 42 lakh from the Pratappur police station area on Sunday. They also arrested one identified as Ajay Kumar Saw (27) on the spot who hid the doda under paddy sacks to mislead the police, but alert policing foiled the plans.On Sunday, Chatra SDPO Sadar Sandeep Suman said the police received a tip-off that illegal doda was being transported to Bihar in a goods auto concealed beneath paddy sacks from the Kunda block side.A special raiding team was formed under the leadership of Chatra SDPO, including Pratappur police station OC Alok Ranjan Chaudhary and armed personnel. The team conducted a checking drive near Balwadohar village under Pratappur police station limits. During this, a brown-coloured auto coming from Kunda was stopped. Upon thorough inspection, a total of 282 kg of illegal doda packed in 10 sacks was recovered from beneath the paddy bags.The SDPO said that during interrogation it was revealed that the consignment was meant to be supplied in Bihar.A case has been registered at Pratappur police station under the NDPS Act and Section 3(5) of the BNS. After arrest, the accused has been sent to judicial custody.
