CBI announces one lakh reward
JAMSHEDPUR: The CBI, which is probing into the missing case of Jamshedpur-based sales personnel Ranjan Bhattacharya, is still clueless about his whereabouts.
The four-member investigating team led by DSP B K Singh has thoroughly interrogated serial murder accused, Pankaj Dubey and Kabir, in the Gaghidih central jail and also went through the serial murder case files in depth in the last four weeks since the probe began.

Apparently not pleased with the findings, the investigating agency announced cash reward of Rs 1 lakh to the person providing information about Bhattacharya's life. The CBI SSP said that although there is no major breakthrough in the case there has been some progress. "Cash award is part of the multi-pronged probe strategy to seek maximum information about Bhattacharya's whereabouts," said R C Choudhary, CBI SSP.
For the second time in the last two days, the team visited Bhattacharya's house in Vijaya Gardens, Birsanagar, and inquired about the missing man's past life from his family.
"Whatever information (about Bhattacharya) they sought from us we furnished them in black and white," said Rajat, the elder brother of Bhattacharya.
Following Jharkhand high court's order on November 19 last year asking CBI to take over the case from the police the investigating team reached here on December 14. On January 25, 2010, Bhattacharya, an employee of private insurance firm, left for work around 10.30 am. He has never been seen since then. His family claimed that two armed youths kidnapped Bhattacharya.
Bhattacharya, 35, went missing since his name figured in the case involving serial killing of doctors in the city around 2009-end and early 2010. His name figured in the December 2009 murder of Prabhat Kumar, a senior medical officer of Tata Main Hospital (TMH), masterminded by Dubey. Dubey, Bhattacharya's friend, had formed an amateur gang of shooters of which the latter was also a member.
