Bust of Illegal Sex Racket in Ranchi: 10 Women Detained from Private Girls' Hostel

Ranchi: A sex racket operating from a private girls' hostel was busted and 10 women, all from West Bengal, were detained for their alleged involvement in the racket on Sunday, police said.DSP (city) Kumar V Raman said, “Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted at Om Girls’ hostel located around 200 metres from the Lalpur police station. The women were found at the hostel, where they had been staying and indulging in illegal activities for the past 10-15 days.”“They are being interrogated in police custody. The hostel owner is also under scrutiny. The handler is absconding. Efforts are under way to arrest him,” he added.The racket was allegedly being operated through social media platforms, with transactions and arrangements made digitally. The devices recovered from the detained women’s possession are being scrutinised to recover more information, a source said.
