Officer in-charge of Argora police station Ratibhan Singh said, "The boy's parents said he (Kumar) was upset after misplacing the summer holiday homework list given by the school on Saturday night". Om's uncle, Anuj Kumar, said he was "very upset" on Saturday night.

"Om's father assured him that another list would be provided by the school, but he did not eat dinner. We did not expect him to take his life," Anuj said.

The body has been sent for autopsy. Dr Siddharth Sinha of Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry and Allied Sciences (Rinpas) said, "The boy could have been harbouring grievances for some time. Losing the homework list could have triggered something."
