Bokaro: DC Ajay Nath Jha on Sunday emphasised eco-friendly decorations, waste management, and security arrangements at pandals during the Durga Puja celebrations.“Special measures the administration has taken include women’s safety desks, medical aid provision, CCTV monitoring, and fire safety equipment. Idol immersion will only be allowed at designated ghats with scientific waste disposal systems. The administration appealed to the public for full cooperation to make the festival safe and joyous,” the DC said.Jha also said detailed guidelines were issued regarding pandal management, security, sanitation, and environment-friendly immersions. All puja pandals must set up information desks, waste bins, and special cleaning squads for proper waste management, he said.“Only eco-friendly and biodegradable materials are permitted for decorations, while plastic is strictly banned. Fire safety equipment, CCTV cameras, and control rooms are mandatory, along with proper lighting and crowd control measures at entry and exit points,” the DC said.Stating that women police personnel, dedicated help desks, volunteers, and medical assistance centres would be deployed by the administration, the DC also said the pandal organisers should provide public facilities like drinking water kiosks, toilets, seating arrangements, and designated prasad distribution centres.
“Idols must be made of clay and natural colours. Immersion will only be allowed at administration-designated ghats, which will be equipped with adequate lighting, security personnel, and volunteers. Post-immersion cleanliness and scientific disposal of waste will be mandatory,” the DC added.
