BOKARO: Sub-registrar office in Chas will be relocated from its current location at the old SDO office, which has been declared unsafe by the building division, to the ground floor of the new SDM building. The move will begin from Mar 10, the district administration said on Friday.
The relocation matter, however, remained bone of contention between Bokaro MLA Shweta Singh and deputy commissioner Vijaya Jadhav as the former in the past approached her over phone questioning the logic behind relocation to the particular place and suggested other places.
Singh said she called DC after many people of her constituency approached her over relocation to the particular site citing various issues. Singh, however, accused that DC misbehaved with her and didn't even wish to listen the concerns despite she being the MLA of Bokaro constituency.
Two days back, she had also brought the matter to the notice of assembly speaker accusing DC of misbehaving with elected representatives. She got support from another JMM MLA from Chandankyari, Umakant Rajak, who too in the assembly told the speaker that the DC is allegedly in habit of disrespecting elected representatives.
The Bokaro MLA said, "I have already formally submitted a letter against DC before the speaker and raised the issue of breach of privilege demanding appropriate action. I am a public representative and I know my limits. I talked to the district deputy commissioner over the phone regarding shifting of the sub-registrar office, but she behaved inappropriately with me despite knowing that I am elected representative of the public and even instructed him to stay within limits."
DC Bokaro continued to remain non-responsive on the issue but the administration has decided to fast-track the relocation of the office in Chas. A formal communique from the administration read, "The said office has become unsafe. The basic facilities required for the common people are also not available. At present, the sub-divisional office, Chas is operating from a newly constructed building near IIT turn. It is the responsibility of the deputy commissioner-cum-district magistrate district registrar to keep all the very important documents related to registration safe. Along with this, the common citizens, who come to the office for their registration related work, should also be provided basic civic amenities along with their security. As a result, it has been decided by the district administration that from Monday, the Sub Registrar Office, Chas will be operated from the ground floor of the new sub-division office."
