DALTONGANJ: A male blue bull was found dead on national highway 98 near Talee village in Palamu, 35 km off Daltonganj.
The divisional forest officer (DFO) North Amarnath Singh said the bull died on NH 98. Ranger A K Singh said the blue bull was buried on Friday. A JCB machine was brought in to dig up a five feet deep grave for it.
The ranger also said the bull must have come in front of the speeding vehicle and was hit by it leading to the fatal accident.
Powerful lights of the vehicles dazzle the eyes of the animals which break into panic only to lose its life.
However, the ranger said the villagers made some attempt to take off the blue bull's hide as the corpse was dragged for some 100 metres away from the place where it fell dead on Friday. The ranger conceded that prompt action on the part of the foresters helped in keeping the bull's hide intact as had there been an hour's delay the hide would have been taken off the animal.
This week witnessed loss of two wildlife here. A bison was shot dead in Latehar while the bull died at an accident.
