'BJP-led NDA alliance will win over 51 seats': Jharkhand BJP chief Babulal Marandi

DELHI: As Jharkhand prepares for the counting of votes for the Assembly elections on Saturday, leaders from both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress-Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) alliance have expressed confidence in securing victory.

Jharkhand BJP president Babulal Marandi stated his belief that the BJP-led NDA alliance would win over 51 seats.

"BJP workers have worked hard on the ground and based on the information received from them, I can say that the BJP-led NDA alliance will win more than 51 seats in the Jharkhand assembly elections...," said Marandi.

However, Congress leader Rajesh Thakur expressed confidence in the Mahagathbandhan, which includes the JMM and Congress, forming the next government.

"BJP is saying they would get 55 odd seats, last time they mentioned 65 seats. When someone contests elections, a party contests elections and all feedbacks come, they speak their mind. Results will be out tomorrow and the truth will come out. We trust the public. With the kind of mandate they have given, we can say that we are going to form the government once again. We are going to form a strong government. We will also ensure to provide (government) scheme to those who have been deprived," said Thakur.

The Election Commission completed the two-phased polling for the 81 assembly constituencies in Jharkhand on November 13 and 20. The counting of votes will occur alongside the results for the Maharashtra Assembly elections and bypolls in several states.
