BJP aims to wrap up party election by March-end
Ranchi: BJP's state poll officer and Rajya Sabha member Pradeep Verma on Sunday expressed confidence Jharkhand's organizational elections would end by March-end. The announcement came after a meeting with district election officers (DEOs) to address the slow progress of internal party polls.
During the meeting, DEOs presented detailed status reports of elections in their respective jurisdictions. "We are focusing on completing the formation of booth committees and finalizing mandal and district presidents by the end of this month," Verma said, acknowledging that several mandals and districts still have pending election processes.
Regarding the appointment of the state president, Verma indicated that the central leadership would make the final decision, with an observer scheduled to visit the state to oversee the process.
Meanwhile, BJP state president Babulal Marandi's unexpected meeting with PM Narendra Modi has sparked speculation within the party. A senior BJP leader, speaking anonymously, said the meeting was arranged at a very short notice, noting that organizational matters typically fall under the purview of national president J P Nadda or home minister Amit Shah.
JMM spokesperson Vinod Pandey expressed hope that Marandi had raised the issue of pending dues worth Rs 1.36 lakh crore with the PM.
