DHANBAD: Setting aside all the speculations, former Jharkhand chief Minister and the JVM(P) president Babulal Marandi filed his nomination papers from Dhanwar assembly constituency of Giridih district on Tuesday amid his supporters.
Earlier, he was contemplating contesting from Dumka district but after turncoat Stephen Marandi joined JMM, he chose his home district that he considered safer for him.
Marandi along with his supporters arrived at the office of the Khorimahua SDM around 1:15 pm and filed his nomination papers.
"This is my home place and all citizens living across the region are of equal importance to me. I decided to contest the assembly poll from here just because of well-wishers, who requested me to contest this election from our hometown ", Marandi said while addressing public rally after filing his nomination.
Apart from his decade-long career in politics as the union minister and the first chief minister of Jharkhand, Marandi has been two times MP from Koderma Lok Sabha, first in 2004 and second in 2009.
Besides Marandi, five others including RJD's Manoj Yadav, the CPI (ML) candidate, Raj Kumar Yadav, Nationalist Youth Party (NYP)'s Umesh Yadav, Congress' Upendra Singh and BSP's Dinesh Kumar Das also filed their nomination papers from Dhanwar constituency.
