Babulal Marandi Alleges Law and Order Collapse in Jharkhand, Cites Criminal-Political Nexus
Dhanbad: Leader of opposition Babulal Marandi on Tuesday alleged that law and order in the state has “collapsed completely” and that criminals and mafias are operating under political protection.
Marandi claimed that the administration has failed to control rising crime and gang activities across the state.
Marandi questioned the decision to grant an extension to former DGP Anurag Gupta after retirement. He alleged that Gupta was earlier suspended for nearly two years and accused the Hemant Sorent-led govt of bypassing rules to retain “favoured officers” in key positions for political purposes. “The govt is using selected officers to suppress opponents and protect vested interests,” he alleged.
He expressed concern over the increasing incidents of gang wars and criminal activities in Dhanbad. Referring to recently circulated video and audio clips linked to gangster Prince Khan, Marandi claimed that serious allegations regarding police links and international arms supply networks have surfaced. He demanded strict action against the alleged nexus between police officers and criminal groups.
JMM central committee member and media spokesperson Neelam Mishra hit back at Marandi saying the people of Jharkhand have already witnessed the governance during his tenure as the first CM. Mishra alleged that Marandi not only harmed the state’s development but also damaged its social structure in the name of domicile politics. She claimed that BJP has no real political issues to raise and is indulging in unnecessary propaganda. Mishra said the people would not be misled by such tactics.
