ATS gets six-day remand of gangster Aman
Ranchi: The court of additional judicial commissioner on Friday allowed the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) six-day remand of notorious gangster Aman Srivastava for interrogation regarding various cases, including murders, attempts to murder and extortions. The ATS, which nabbed Srivastava from Navi Mumbai on Monday evening, brought him to Ranchi under transit remand. He was produced before the court amid tight security provided by ATS personnel on Thursday. The ATS prayed for a remand of 15 days to interrogate Srivastava, which was opposed by the latter’s advocate Bishwajit Mukherjee.During his argument, Mukherjee cited the case of politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed who were shot dead in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh last month while they were being taken to the hospital by police for medical check-up. Mukherjee submitted that instead of taking Srivastava to doctors, the latter should be called for Srivastava’s medical examination. The advocate also cited that Srivastava’s father Sushil was killed on the court premises by the latter’s rival in June 2015. Inspector General Manoj Kaushik said, “Srivastava is being guarded by the ATS, which is a specialised force.” He said that during interrogation, police would try to get information about Srivastava’s criminal history, gang members and inter-gang rivalries adding there is a standard protocol in this regard.
