Arrested rebel jailed in Hazaribag

A Maoist was arrested from the busy Jhumra market on the Hazaribag-Bagodar road (NH-100) on Thursday.

HAZARIBAG: A Maoist was arrested from the busy Jhumra market on the Hazaribag-Bagodar road (NH-100) on Thursday. Rajendra Prasad alias Rajo was sent to jail on Friday.
The arrested rebel has confessed to police during interrogation that he was a member of the Jharkhand Prastuti Committee (JPC), a splinter group of the Maoist, which he has left over some differences and joined the CPI (Maoists). He had been given job to collect extortion money and provide training to villagers.
Police recovered a cell phone with two sim cards with photographs of Maoist camps and weapons from him.
"We have seized a mobile phone with two sim cards, mobile chips containing photographs along with some documents which will help police get the details of the Maoist operation,'' SP Manoj Kaushik said.
SP Manoj Kaushik said the Maoist belonging to village Harli in Hazaribag extorted money on behalf of the outfit and also pasted anti-police posters. Acting on a tip-off, a team from Hazaribag mufassil police station picked up Prasad from the Jhumra market, about 15km from here, on the charges of extorting businessmen as well as contractors.
