Anti-Corruption Bureau Raids Trader Vinay Singh Linked to Liquor Scam, Seizes Vital Evidence

Ranchi: Teams of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Sunday seized a large number of documents and digital devices while conducting raids at four places related to trader Vinay Singh, an accused in a liquor scam case.

According to a statement issued by the ACB, a total of 198 files, 27 central processing units, a laptop, four land deeds, and two mobile phones were seized during the raids.

The agency also said that its teams, aided by the police, carried out the operations at Singh’s residence at Anantpur Colony in Chutia, an apartment on the Peace Road in Lalpur, and his automobile showroom and the office of Next-Gen Solutions Private Limited at Dibdih in the city.

The operations, which started at 6:15 am, ended after 12 hours at 6:15 pm. The ACB will analyse the seized materials and gain clarity of the scam, the statement said.

Singh is said to be a close associate of IAS officer Vinay Choubey, who is also an accused in the case.

The scam is allegedly related to the award of works to placement agencies based on fake bank guarantees, which led to a loss of around Rs 38 crore to the state govt.

Last Thursday, the agency arrested Singh in connection with a forest scam case. It alleged that Singh illegally got plots of forest land registered in his name after conspiring with state govt officials.

The plots were of the forest and shrubs category, which should not be transferred without the permission of the forest department.
