RANCHI: Noted Urdu writer and former minister of Maharashtra Syed Ahmed has been appointed the eighth governor of Jharkhand. Ahmed will replace MOH Farook who has been transferred and appointed as the governor of Kerala for the remaining days of his term.
The President of India appointed six governors on Friday for states, including Jharkhand, Goa, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram and Tamil Nadu.

Sources in the Raj Bhawan said that Ahmed will be the eighth governor of Jharkhand in a short span of around 11 years of its existence.
Farook is now transferred after a short term of 18 months. The longest-serving governor of Jharkhand was S S Razi. He was in office for almost four-and-a-half years but was transferred to Assam just before his retirement.
