Ahead of JMM foundation day, Sita’s ‘Ghar Wapsi’ doing rounds in political circles
Ranchi: Sita Murmu, the estranged sister-in-law of chief minister Hemant Soren fuelled the ongoing speculations about ‘Ghar Wapsi' on Friday by stating that JMM is her home and its people her own.Talking to local media, the former three-time Jama MLA did not deny nor accept the ongoing speculations. "Let the speculations continue. Coming and going are a part of life. Time determines everything and I have left it on time itself," she said. However, she added, "JMM is my home and its people are my own."Citing constant neglect by the family since the death of her husband Durga, Sita quit JMM and joined BJP before the Lok Sabha election last March. She contested the Dumka (ST) seat but lost to JMM's Nalin Soren. Months later, she contested as a BJP candidate from Jamtara in the assembly election but was defeated by Congress's Irfan Ansari.Speculations around Sita's possible move to JMM have begun swirling ahead of the party's 48th foundation day programme, which is scheduled in Dumka on February 2. While party president Shibu Soren is unlikely to attend the event for the first time due to frail health, Hemant, the executive president of the party, will chair the function and address the customary rally.Talking to reporters in Shikaripara, Dumka MLA Basant Soren said preparations for the foundation day ceremony were in full swing. "Last year, our executive president (Hemant) could not attend (due to being imprisoned by ED in a land scam case days earlier). Since he will attend this time, the excitement among our karyakartas is very high," he said. When asked about Sita's possible return to the fold, Basant said, "I don't know about any such development."Sita's close associates said she would travel to Dumka from Ranchi on Saturday. "On Sunday, she would attend local functions and attend Saraswati Puja celebrations. She is not going to join JMM on Sunday," a source close to her told TOI, requesting anonymity.
