Ranchi: The Adani Foundation’s ongoing Gyanodaya project across 314 government schools in Godda has managed to improve the performances of the students in their annual and board examinations and their overall attendances, a study by Bengaluru-based Azim Premji University published last month has claimed.
Under the project, the Adani Group, which is setting up a thermal power plant in the district, prepares and supplies content for digital learning to over 60,000 students of classes VI to X across 314 schools from 2018 as a part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The company has also installed smart classes in the schools to facilitate digital learning.
The content and study materials, which are in sync with the curriculum of the state-run Jharkhand Academic Council, are prepared by a team of 35 professionals of an IIT-Delhi alumni founded company Eckovation Private Limited.
The Gyanodaya project hit national headlines in June 2020 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned it as a success story in his radio broadcast “Mann Ki Baat”. Researchers from the Azim Premji University conducted a survey of the initiative between August and September this year.
“The data from the Gyanodaya project shows that attendance has improved to 75% in 2022 from 60% in 2018. It has also successfully bridged the gap of digital divide and intervened into the shortages of teaching faculties in the schools. The results have also improved as Godda has moved up to the seventh position from 21st in overall district rank of JAC,” the study said.
