: The Anti-Corruption Bureau () team on Friday arrested a called Gyani Ram, red-handed, while accepting a of Rs 3,000. He was posted at the Daru circle office.
According to official sources, complainant Hiramani Prajapati, a resident of Medhkuri Kala village under Daru police station, lodged a complaint with the ACB Hazaribag office. He alleged that Gyani Ram demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 to process a mutation application filed in the name of his wife, Durga Devi.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB. After verification, the bureau confirmed that Gyani Ram demanded Rs 3,000 as the first instalment of the total bribe amount.
Acting swiftly, the ACB’s trap team conducted a raid on Friday and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant. A magistrate and two independent govt witnesses were present during the operation. ACB SP Arif Ekram confirmed the arrest and said a case was registered at the ACB police station, Hazaribag, and further legal proceedings are underway.
