RANCHI: After
Rahul Gandhi's humble comment following the Congress's defeat in Delhi and Rajasthan that he would learn from Aam Aadmi Party's success, it is now the state unit of the party which is drawing inspiration from the new hero in the Indian political theatre.
The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC), who are visibly impressed by AAP's success, has decided to convene a meeting of its leaders soon to pen down the new strategy, which is expected to be inspired by
Arvind Kejriwal's script that helped AAP gain a strong foothold in Delhi.
"AAP has registered impressive success in Delhi. It is a new and nascent party but it has managed to score big in its first ever election. We will definitely emulate the political engineering they had put into place," said JPCC president Sukhdeo Bhagat.
"In the meeting, we will thoroughly discuss the political management of AAP and draw our priorities accordingly. The focus will be on individual connect, which I think AAP has done," Bhagat added.
A senior Congress leader said people feel close to you when you listen to their problems. "People do not want anything great from their representatives. It can work wonderfully if you give them some time to listen to their problems," he said.
On Sunday, when the results of assembly election in four states were declared, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had said the Congress would learn from AAP's success. "No doubt AAP has put up a spectacular electoral performance. We will adopt the political style of AAP," said Congress media-in-charge Shailesh Sinha.
The Congress has only one MP and 13 MLAs in Jharkhand. Both the general and the assembly elections are scheduled next year. The party is making all efforts to reach out to the electorate. It has already started work at district, block and panchyat levels to consolidate its base in the state.
