NEW DELHI: At least eight people were killed in two road accidents in Jharkhand's Giridih district, police said on Wednesday.
Six individuals lost their lives in Madhuban police station area late on Tuesday night, whilst two others perished in Bagodar police station area early on Wednesday.
"Six people were killed when a vehicle collided with a motorcycle and then rammed into a roadside tree near Latkato forest in Madhuban police station area late on Tuesday night," Dumri Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sumit Prasad said.
The casualties included four occupants of the four-wheeler and two motorcyclists, according to the officer.
"Of the four, bodies of three persons travelling in the four-wheeler have been identified so far.
They were identified as Somesh Chandra (40), a bank manager at Ishri, Gopal Kumar (21), a resident of Munger in Bihar and Gulab Kumar, a resident of Ishri Bazaar in Giridih," the SDPO said, adding that the process for identification of the fourth deceased is underway.
The two motorcycle riders were identified as Bablu Kumar Tudu (26) and Hussaini Miya (55), as stated by the officer.
In a separate occurrence early on Wednesday, two individuals lost their lives when their motorcycle struck an electric pole in Bagodar police station area, as reported by another police officer.
Bagodar police station in-charge Vinay Kumar Yadav indicated that one person sustained injuries in the incident and was transferred to a hospital in Hazaribag for advanced treatment.
The deceased were identified as Abhishek Kumar and Ashish Kumar, according to the officer.
