Hatia DSP Nisha Murmu said Anjali Devi was alone at her home when her boyfriend and another friend convinced her to have some liquor. "Under the influence of liquor, his friend, Santosh Kumar made sexual advances towards the woman. Instead of objecting to his advances, the woman allegedly agreed to have a physical relationship with Santosh. This angered Vinay Kumar and he took no time to attack the woman killing her on the spot," said Murmu.
The woman had come from West Bengal to work at a liquor shop in Tupudana along with her husband a few months ago. Their marriage fell apart in a few days and Anjali Devi chose to stay put in Tupudana evan as her husband returned. She continued to work in the same factory. Vinay Kumar was her coworker in the same factory.
"Vinay entered into a relationship with the woman and used to come to visit her regularly at her place. Vinay is not married," said a police officer. Police lodged an FIR in this case on Monday after recovering Anjali Devi's body.
"The two men fled the spot after the incident. We raided nearby places and arrested them in a few hours. They have also confessed to their crime," said Murmu.
