BOKARO: Four people were killed and seven others suffered serious burn injuries when the Tazia they were carrying during the Muharram procession accidentally came in contact with an 11,000-volt high-tension wire near the Petarwar police station of Bokaro on Saturday. Three others were also injured but they were stated to be out of danger.

Among the deceased, three were cousins — Asif Raza, Ghulam Hussain, and Sajid Ansari. The fourth, Enamul Rab, was a daily wager. Rab leaves behind his wife and two young children. The injured are identified as Saluddin Ansari, Ibrahim Ansari, Lal Mohammad, Firdous Ansari, Mehtab Ansari, Arif Ansari, Shahbaz Ansari, Mojobil Ansari and Saqib Ansari. They are in the ICU of Bokaro General Hospital (BGH) in Bokaro.

Chief minister Hemant Soren condoled the deaths.
