RANCHI: Four persons were arrested on Tuesday for gang-raping a 14-year-old girl in Ranchi, police said.
The arrested are Musharraf Ansari, Feroz Ansari, Meraj Ansari, and Sambhu Munda.
The girl has identified Musharraf as one of the assaulters, police added. She told police she along with her relative was returning home around 3am on Tuesday after watching Manda Puja when four youths, who were stalking her, waylaid the duo. They thrashed her relative, forcing the latter to flee. They took her to a barren land nearby and committed the crime, she said.
Police registered a case under IPC Section 376 D and Sections 4 and 6 of the Pocso Act. SP (Rural) Naushad Alam said on Wednesday, “Medical examination of the girl has been done. She is out of danger.”
