252 Kg Poppy Husk Seized in Chatra: Traffickers Use Wedding Poster Ploy to Evade Police
Chatra: In an attempt to evade police checks, traffickers allegedly used a wedding poster on a vehicle to smuggle narcotics, but the ploy was busted after police seized around 252 kg of doda (poppy husk) from an SUV on the Lawalong-Bagra Road in Lawalong block on Sunday.Acting on a tip-off that a vehicle carrying a large consignment of doda would pass through the route, a team led by Simaria SDPO Nagaragojey Shubham Bhau Saheb launched a checking drive. During the operation, a speeding SUV coming from the Lawalong side was signalled to stop.On spotting police, the driver panicked and drove towards a forest patch near Char Fedi Mahua. The accused then abandoned the vehicle and fled into the nearby forest with accomplices.The SDPO said police found 13 sacks containing about 252 kg of doda during the search. The SUV was seized. Raids are under way and further investigation is in progress.
