Hazaribag: Two sisters were killed while their friend was injured when their scooter was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Barhi on national highway-2 on Tuesday, police said.
The three, aged around 16 and 18 years, were returning from their educational institution when the accident happened.
Barhi sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Ajit Kumar Vimal said, "The three injured were sent to Barhi sub-divisional hopital, from where they were referred to the Hazaribag Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital. The two sisters died on way to the Hazaribag hospital."
"The deceased sisters were identified as Prachi and Khushi. They were the daughters of Gorelal Yadav and students of Ram Narayan Jadhav College. They left home in the morning after telling their father that they had an exam to take," the SDPO added.
Medical superintendent of the medical college, Dr AK Purty, said, "The sole survivor has been shifted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims), Ranchi. Her condition is critical."
In another incident, a coal-laden truck turned turtle at Danua Bhanua valley under Chouparan police station blocking NH-2 for more than eight hours.
