Daltonganj: Two boys who went missing from a village in Palamu district on Tuesday were traced within hours in neighbouring district after an overnight police search, with officers crediting timely field action for their rescue.Chandan Rajwar, 6, and Vishal Baitha, 10, of Kadal Kurmi village under Mohammadganj police station limits had gone missing around 10 am on June 9. Their families informed police at about 10 pm, nearly 12 hours later.Officer in-charge of Mohammadganj police station, Narayan Soren, on Thursday said that a patrol team was immediately pressed into service.During the search, inputs suggested that the children had gone along the Bhim barrage route on their own and strayed into Mohli village under Kandee police station limits in Garhwa district, about 4 km from their native village.Locals assumed the boys belonged to labourers who work at a nearby brick kiln, where they were taken for safety. Police patrolling was intensified in the area through the night.“A breakthrough came when someone alerted the patrolling team about a child near the brick kiln,” Soren said. Chandan was rescued around 1:30 am on June 10, while Vishal was located early morning. Both have been reunited with their families.
