RANCHI: Two siblings, aged seven and two years, lost their lives after a swarm of bees attacked their house late on Thursday evening in the Mousibari area under the Jagannathpur police station. The mother of the two deceased children and her other son, aged five, were injured in the incident.

The deceased were identified as Mirha Aksa (2) and Arfan Alam (7), while Salman (5) and their mother Zameela Khatoon (35) were admitted to a private hospital, where Mirha and Arfan succumbed on Friday morning.

Ranchi civil surgeon Dr Vinod Kumar said Zameela and Salman were later referred to Rims, where doctors discharged them after treatment. Sources said the family, a native of the Bazartand area in Itki, was living in a rented accommodation in Mousibari. On Thursday evening, a swarm of bees entered their house and stung the family members. Sajjad Alam, the father of the deceased, was not present at home at the time of the incident.

The public relations officer of Rims, Dr Rajiv Ranjan, said, “The patients’ condition was stable before their discharge.”
