2 held in Chatra for trafficking bid of minor girls
Chatra: Two persons were arrested for trying to traffic two minor girls out of the state on the pretext of providing jobs, the police said on Tuesday. The accused were identified as Pramod Baiga of Bhugadha village under Pratappur police station area and Vikas Kumar, an auto driver from Jogiyara village.
The action followed a complaint lodged by the uncle of one of the girls, on the basis of which an FIR was registered at Vashishth Nagar police station. Amit Kumar Singh, the officer-in-charge of Vashisth Nagar police station, said, “Police had received information that the two minors were being taken through Jori with a plan to send them to another state under the guise of employment and allegedly sell them.” A trap was then laid in the area and the accused were intercepted. The girls were rescued safely on Monday, while the two suspects were taken into custody.
“The accused are being interrogated and are being sent to judicial custody,” Singh said, adding that investigation into the matter is underway.
